Jacqueline Fessard Johnson Distinguished Service Award

INDIGO’s Jacqueline Fessard Johnson Distinguished Service Award recognizes distinguished and exceptional service to INDIGO or to the government information community in the state of Indiana.

The Jackie Award was established in 2015 to honor Jackie Johnson, former Associate Librarian, Coordinator of Collection Development and Special Collections (and Government Publications) at the Indiana University Southeast Library.  An active member of INDIGO, Jackie was passionate about access to government information and information literacy, and is remembered for her contributions to INDIGO, as well as her strength, candor, humor, and knowledge.  Jackie passed away December 14, 2014 at the age of 54.

2016Sarah (Sally) Holterhoff, Government Information/Reference Librarian, Associate Professor of Law Librarianship, Valparaiso University School of Law.  A founding member of INDIGO and dedicated advocate of government information, Sally served for two terms on GPO’s Depository Library Council (1987-1990; 2008-2011), including a year as secretary. Sally served as the Chair of the Indiana Library Association’s Government Documents Discussion Group; as a Delegate to the Indiana Governor’s Conference on Library and Information Services; and as a member of the Indiana Pro Bono Commission. Sally was an active member of the Chicago Association of Law Libraries and the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL). She is a past AALL president (2006-2007) and served two terms as an AALL Executive Board member. Sally served as the chair of AALL’s Government Documents Special Interest Section, the chair of AALL’s Government Relations Committee, and as the chair of AALL’s Task Force on the Federal Depository Library Program. She was AALL’s representative to the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) from 2011 to 2014; and was a member of the Standing Committee of the IFLA Section on Law Libraries. In 2014, Sally received AALL’s Robert L. Oakley Advocacy Award and Valparaiso University School of Law’s Distinguished Faculty Award. In 2015 Sally received AALL’s Marian Gould Gallagher Distinguished Service Award — AALL’s highest honor — and was inducted to the AALL Hall of Fame.
