U.S. Government Resources on Russo-Ukraine War

February 22 will mark the second anniversary of Russia’s war against Ukraine. There are numerous U.S government information resources documenting U.S. policy toward this protracted conflict and the controversies over it. The Defense Department’s Fact Sheet on U.S. Security Assistance to Ukraine https://purl.fdlp.gov/GPO/gpo189421 documents this assistance in various ways with a February 13, 2024 infographic featuring numerous statistics and p. 3 of this infographic showing industrial base impacts by state with Indiana’s being $365 million.

Annual defense spending legislation is also an excellent source for information on this topic. The Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act Public Law 118-31 https://www.congress.gov/118/bills/hr2670/BILLS-118hr2670enr.pdf contains numerous provisions and reporting requirements concerning Ukraine, Russia, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization beginning with Section 1241 of this statute. Section 1243 of this statute contains the following language and reporting requirements:

SEC. 1243. REPORT RELATING TO ALLIED AND PARTNER SUPPORT

TO UKRAINE. Within 90 days of this law’s enactment and for every 90 days afterwards until January 1, 2025 the Defense Department will submit to congressional defense committees military assistance to Ukraine by allied and partner countries in absolute and relative terms for each country from January 1, 2022-present with this report being publicly available and potentially including classified material.
